How to Move a Domain from Godaddy

Posted on March 25th, 2010 by Taurus  |  42 Comments »

From: http://mayuonline.com/2009/03/15/how-to-move-a-domain-from-godaddy/

I wanted to renew my domain so I went to Godaddy and tried to pay the money via PayPal. I was totally disappointed that Godaddy will accept only the PayPal accounts which has a credit card attached to it. Though I had some balance in my PayPal account I couldn’t pay the money.

Godaddy is growing, but they are losing their customers because of their poor customer care. Already many people are complaining about the poor hosting service provided by Godaddy. It will take ages to get a support from Godaddy’s customer care.

So I decided to transfer my domain from Godaddy to NameCheap. To initiate the transfer process you need to provide the EPP code to NameCheap. EPP code is a security code which used to identify the owner of the domain.

If you write to Godaddy and asked them for the EPP code, I’m sure they’ll fuss around. You can manually get the EPP code from your Godaddy control panel.

Login to GoDaddy. Go into the domain management section and select your domain. Then you will see down in the bottom left corner of the screen a line that says Authorization Code: Send By Email. Click the Send by Email link and follow the onscreen prompts. Then GoDaddy will send you your EPP code to the email address you have registered as your Technical Contact for your domain. Next I cut and pasted that EPP code into the namecheap.com domain transfer status screen.

After that you need to release the lock in Godaddy, so that it’ll get transfer to the new domain registrar. In my case NameCheap.

This is also a good time to make sure that your domain is unlocked at GoDaddy. When your domain is locked GoDaddy has a good excuse to not let the transfer to go through. After that I got a mail from Godaddy saying that, my request to transfer my domain was received and still I can cancel the transfer and stay with Godaddy. Who cares? Who wanted to stay with loser? In this case you need to approve the transfer in Godaddy control panel. Or else it’ll take more time to transfer from Godaddy to new domain registrar.

If you do as I said above you could transfer your domain in hours. Otherwise it’ll take around 8 days to complete the process.

To force the transfer

  • To do this, log in to your GoDaddy account.
  • Click on the Domains tab and select Pending Transfers. You should see your site listed.
  • Select the check box next to your site and click the Accept/Decline button a the top toolbar.
  • Choose accept and click the OK button.
  • Now your transfer will continue without waiting the three days!

As mentioned in NameCheap site, these are the main steps for domain transfer!

  • Step 1: User adds the domains that needs to be transferred and completes checkout
  • Step 2: If EPP Key (Authorization Key) is required, then an email with EPP request is sent. You can also enter the EPP key by going to My Account > Manager Transfers and clicking on the domain just after completing the order without waiting. (To obtain an EPP key, please contact your current registrar.)
  • Step 3: If Step 2 is completed or not required, then the domain is submitted for transfer.
  • Step 4: An email containing a link is sent to ‘Administrator Email’ for the domain.
  • Step 5: If user click on the link and approves the transfer, the domain name is transferred to Us.
  • Step 6: If the domain named is ‘locked’ at the losing registrar, the registrar lock should be removed before proceeding with the transfer. An email is sent if the lock needs to be removed.
  • Step 7: When the domain is unlocked, the transfer completes successfully

Now I successfully moved my domain to NameCheap. And I was surprised by their customer care. They take only few hours to reply my questions personally. I’m glad I’m with a superb domain registrar, and hope I can spend rest of my life with NameCheap.

How to find your GoDaddy EPP Code

Posted on March 25th, 2010 by Taurus  |  41 Comments »

From: http://www.blogexmachina.com/web-hosting/how-to-find-your-godaddy-epp-code/

Sometimes you will want to transfer your domain name from one web hosting company to another.  In my case, I want to transfer a domain name from GoDaddy to Host Monster.  The recipient hosting company (Host Monster, in my case) will require the EPP Code.  Trust me, it’s hard to find (at least for GoDaddy).

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Log on to your GoDaddy account.
  2. Go to Domain Manager and select/click on your domain name.
  3. Look for Authorization Code and click the link beside it, “Send by Email“.

Jamshed Dasti humiliated with fake degree case, a good example

Fake degrees case: Nazeer, Jamshed resign on
Updated at: 1557 PST,  Thursday, March 25, 2010
Fake degrees case: Nazeer, Jamshed resign on ISLAMABAD: Two members of Punjab Assembly tendered resignations for holding fake educational degrees, Geo News reported Thursday.

These members are Jamshed Dasti who is the chairman National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Sports and Nazeer Jutt of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q).

A six-judge SC bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammed Chaudhry heard the case filed against his certificate in religious education.

Fazed Jamshed could not answer the volley of questions by the judges. Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday sought him to tell names of Quranic paras, and surahs and mathematics table.

On one occasion, Dasti told the wrong names of the first two surahs of the Holy Quran. Also, he could not respond appropriately a query regarding the duration of his religious education certificate. On this, Justice Khilji Arif addressed him, ‘You brought disgrace to the entire house of National Assembly.’

Justice Tariq Pervez said, ‘You cannot contest the by-elections if the court delivers verdict against you.’

Before the verdict, when the court gave him time to resign, Dasti expressed his willingness for the same. Later on, he announced his resignation.

He was elected from NA-178, Muzaffargarh in 2008.

PML-Q’s Nazeer Jutt case was heard by the same bench.

Deputy Secretary Education told the court that Jutt failed his MA exam. On this, the court called him; however, he had handed the NA speaker his resignation yesterday.

He was elected from NA-167.

Nazeer said he resigned not because his degree was fake; instead, it is because he joined PML-N, adding he would participate in the by-elections from N-League.

A small lesson story

Posted on March 25th, 2010 by Taurus  |  55 Comments »

A Jobless man applied for the position of ‘office boy’ at Microsoft. The HR manager interviewed him then watched him cleaning the floor as a test.

‘You are employed’ he said. Give me your e-mail address and I’ll send you the application to fill in, as well as date when you may start.

The man replied ‘But I don’t have a computer, neither an email’.

‘I’m sorry’, said the HR manager. If you don’t have an email, that means you do not exist. And who doesn’t exist, cannot have the job.’

The man left with no hope at all. He didn’t know what to do, with only $10 in his pocket. He then decided to go to the supermarket and buy a 10Kg tomato crate. He then sold the tomatoes in a door to door round. In less than two hours,he succeeded to double his capital. He repeated the operation three times, and returned home with $60.

The man realized that he can survive by this way, and started to go every day earlier, and return late. Thus, his money doubled or tripled every day. Shortly, he bought a cart, then a truck, and then he had his own fleet of delivery vehicles.

5 years later, the man is one of the biggest food retailers in the US …He started to plan his family’s future, and decided to have a life insurance.

He called an insurance broker, and chose a protection plan. When the conversation was concluded the broker asked him his email. The man replied, ‘I don’t have an email.’ The broker answered curiously, ‘You don’t have an email, and yet have succeeded to build an empire. Can you imagine what you could have been if you had an e mail?!!’ The man thought for a while and replied, ‘Yes, I’d be an office boy at Microsoft!’

Moral of the story

Moral 1
Internet is not the solution to your life.

Moral 2
If you don’t have Internet, and work hard, you can be a millionaire.

Moral 3
If you received this message by email, you are closer to being a office boy/girl, than a millionaire. ………

HTC EVO 4G Explained and Video Previewed

Posted on March 25th, 2010 by Taurus  |  121 Comments »

From: http://www.infosyncworld.com/news/n/10881.html

The new HTC EVO 4G, formerly known as the HTC Supersonic, got its official unveiling at CTIA 2010. Check out our video report.

Boasting download data speeds of 3-6Mbps with 10Mbps peaks when connected to Clearwire’s Mobile WiMAX network, the new HTC EVO 4G will be a rather unique Android 2.1 smartphone when released by Sprint this summer. The phone has quite a few other tricks up its sleeve too, as explained by the Sprint execs in our video below:

One phone, two networks

Given Clearwire’s Mobile WiMAX footprint is limited to select markets, the HTC EVO 4G will automatically switch between Sprint’s EV-DO network and Clearwire’s Mobile WiMAX network. But as Sprint’s CEO, Dan Hesse, puts it:

It’s a terrific smartphone, even in 3G markets. So, even if you only have 3G coverage, this is about as good as it gets.

Geared for high-speed data consumption

To take advantage of its high-speed data connectivity, the HTC EVO 4G offers a range of Web-oriented features and pre-loaded apps. This phone will offer the new Adobe Flash 10.1 plug-in for the Android browser, meaning that it’ll utilize its Qualcomm Snapdragon processor to accelerate graphics and videos on Web pages within the actual browser. It’s worth noting that the browser will also respond to the popular pinch-to-zoom gesture.

There’s also a dedicated YouTube HQ application that uses some Snapdragon magic in combination with the phone’s high-speed data connectivity. Furthermore, the HTC EVO 4G is equipped with a front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera and will come pre-loaded with Qik for video chats. Lastly, if you can’t consume enough data on your own, the HTC EVO 4G’s Mobile Hotspot functionality lets you share your connection with up to eight other devices via Wi-Fi.

Improved HTC Sense brings more social networking power

The HTC EVO 4G will be among the HTC smartphones that offers an improved version of HTC Sense. In addition to the existing functionality found in HTC Sense, there’s now Friend Stream, which aggregates multiple social communication channels including Facebook and Twitter into one organized flow of updates, a “Leap” thumbnail view to easily switch between home screen “panels”, the ability to download new, interactive widgets, and a “polite” ringer, which quiets the ringing phone once lifted up. High-quality images and videos can also be posted to Facebook or YouTube.

High-def video recording and playback

In addition to the 1.3-megapixel Web camera mentioned above, the HTC EVO 4G sports an 8-megapixel camera with auto-focus and HD-capable video camcorder. And, if uploading videos to YouTube is not an option, how about connecting an HDMI cable to your EVO 4G and get them displayed on your HDTV? If you buy the HDMI cable separately, the EVO 4G promises to fix the rest. The phone’s 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen with a WVGA resolution shouldn’t be the worst screen to watch videos and images on either. In fact, the EVO 4G even has an integrated kickstand for that purpose. It’s not yet known whether the EVO 4G will offer a wide range of video and audio formats like the new Samsung Galaxy S though. Like the Galaxy S, it’ll regardless offer some augmented reality fun out-of-box courtesy of the new Layar Reality Browser (as seen in our video above).

HTC EVO 4G specifications

The HTC EVO 4G is powered by Android 2.1, a 1GHz Snapdragon QSD8650 processor, 1GB ROM and 512MB RAM. The phone will ship with a bundled 8GB microSD card, and its memory slot supports up to 32GB cards. There’s also built-in digital compass, G-sensor, proximity sensor, light sensor and GPS. Additionally, the EVO 4G sports an 3.5mm audio jack and an HDMI out port, as well as supporting Wi-Fi 802.11b/g and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity. Check out more HTC EVO 4G specifications.

Opera Mini Knocks Apple’s Door

Posted on March 24th, 2010 by Taurus  |  32 Comments »

From: http://www.techtree.com/India/News/Opera_Mini_Knocks_Apples_Door/551-110122-580.html

Opera showed off a version of Opera Mini running on an iPhone at their stall at the CTIA.

After much speculation, Opera has finally submitted the Opera Mini browser to be approved by folks over at Apple. This came after Opera demoed the Opera Mini working on the iPhone at the ongoing CTIA Wireless Expo at Las Vegas. If you recall, Opera had first demoed the Opera Mini for the iPhone at the CES over two months ago. Back then, people weren’t allowed to take pics or make a video of it – a thing that was not done this time around

While Opera is confident that its browser would be approved by Apple, there are others who think it will never enter the walled garden, i.e; the Apple App Store. Opera showed off a version of the Opera Mini running on an iPhone yesterday at their stall at the CTIA. From what is easily observed in the video below, the Mini is way faster than the default Safari browser on the iPhone.

Opera Mini for the iPhone is visually similar to the other versions of the browser for different platforms. Opera had confirmed last year that its browsers would sport a uniform look across multiple platforms. This is holding true even in the case of the iPhone version of Opera Mini. Opera Mini seems to be on an all out offensive against Apple and has even started a countdown clock that displays how long it has been since they submitted the browser for approval with the Apple App Store team. You can see the counter here.

Now all eyes are tuned to the “verdict” the Apple App Store will pass. Will Opera Mini make it to the other side of the fence? Will Apple relent? We’ll find that out soon!

This is a very small example from tons of incidents that takes place in different cities in Pakistan. Whenever there is injustice, we will get these kinds of politicians coming in.
